Frequently Asked Questions
When and why did you begin making survival bands?
I started making them for fun when I was about 10 years old because they were cool. Then I went into the Royal Marines at 17 years of age and learned how to use para cord in the field. I carried it with me everywhere, though it wasn't very convenient as I had it wrapped around my survival tin (fire starting kit, water purification tabs, etc.) or bird-nested in my pack. I began making them again recently because I think para cord is an excellent tool, bands are an easy way to carry it and, well, they're still cool!
Why are survival bands important?
Para cord has been used in the U.S. Military for over 65 years. The most important reason is that it's proven itself in tests up to 550 pounds breaking strength. This means that you can use it to do almost anything - it's kinda like the duct tape of the outdoor world. Here are just a few of its known uses:
Replacing shoelaces
Creating shelter
Emergency gun sling
Tying items down, ex: vehicle hood, tarps
Clothes drying line
Creating an emergency hunting bow or fire starting bow
and MANY MORE!
How do I know what size to order?
For both wrist bands and dog collars, I need an exact measurement. For wrist bands: Measure flush with your skin and round up to the nearest 1/4 inch. For dog collars: Measure your pup's neck and round up to the nearest 1/4 inch.
What do I do if my band is too small?
The first thing I would suggest is to try stretching the band. You should be able to stretch about another 1/4 inch. If the band is still too small I will be happy to exchange it for the right size once I receive the ill fitting band in perfect condition (never worn).
What if I change my mind after I've ordered?
I make each band to order so all sales are final and no refunds will be given for that reason. However, if it's a question of size I will exchange the band for the right size (same color(s)) once I receive the ill fitting band in perfect condition (never worn).
How do I know that you received my order/shipped my order?
As you go through the PayPal process you will see that it asks for your email address. Please fill this out and I will email you once I receive your order AND when I ship your order.
How long will it take to get my order?
For orders within the United States: I will begin your order within 24 hours of receiving it. As soon as I complete the order and the post office is open, I will ship it!
For international orders: I will begin your order within 24 hours of receiving it. As soon as I complete the order and the post office is open, I will ship it! Obviously
international orders will take longer to arrive.
If I purchase a sling and have to use some of it in an emergency, but only need a few feet, what can I do to stop the rest of it from coming undone?
If you only need to use a few feet of para cord, then you can singe the remaining ends with a lighter. If you do not have a lighter then you can tie a simple knot tight to the next weave to stop it from fraying at the ends. Here is a short How-To video on taking apart your para cord band/sling/collar: Extras.Z
Are either of the dog collars adjustable?
As of right now they are not. I custom-make each collar to your specifications. Here is how to measure: Measure your pup's neck and round up to the nearest 1/4 inch. In the future I will be working on a way to make them adjustable!
